nobody's daughter
Using my archive of old family photos-- mainly of myself and my parents, both of whom are now deceased-- and recent self-portraits, I'm interested in exploring that point at which memory, family history and perception collide. In my process of cutting and tearing photos and layering them upon each other, often letting mirrors and sometimes bits of text peep through, and then re-photographing them, I am creating a new personal fiction, new family photos and re-writing my story as I remember it or wish it had unfolded, as the case may be.
